Our Mission

As the name suggests, the group is a local branch of the wider Friends of the Earth organisation. We are ordinary Bexley residents, concerned with looking after the environment and our quality of life through solving problems and raising awareness of environmental matters at a local level. The group is relatively new and has so far been particularly keen to find ways to protect and enhance the Borough's green spaces. We are also looking to increase our numbers, making ourselves a more effective group with the range of interests, qualities and skills required to raise the profile of a variety of environmental issues within our community. If you would like to join or find out more about Friends of the Earth: Bexley we would be very pleased to welcome you at one of our meetings. Details of our meetings are posted in advance on the homepage of this website (or an email address you can use to obtain details), so if you can't make the next one please feel free to come along on a future occasion. There are no entry requirements or fees for membership. Meetings are informal and you can contribute as much or as little as you like to the discussion. Whether or not you are able to attend our meetings in person, you can keep up to date with our activities by joining our mailing list, click below to sign up. Successful conclusion to our Campaign to oppose environmentally unsound development

A campaign to oppose unsustainable & ecologically unsound development in Bexleyheath was fought in conjunction with a number of other local groups, including Friends of Danson Park, The National Environment Focus Group and with the support of Bexley Council. It ran from 2006 until March 2008 when the Planning Inspectorate finally ruled that this development should not proceed. Coverage of the unfolding campaign is contained in our «archive»
